Jim Ryan, the newly-appointed head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), has confirmed that PlayStation 3 has flogged an impressive 22 million units in PAL regions since its launch in March 2007.
"PS2 across our territory went well over 50 million units,” said Ryan, during a chat with MCV. "We’re at 22 million on PS3. So there’s lots of life in that still to come."
Sony chopped 50 quid off the 160 & 320GB PS3 in the U.K. during its Gamescom press conference last week, resulting in sales increasing by a whopping 65 percent week-on-week.
Sales also spiked in North America and Japan, though the price drop wasn’t quite enough to propel Sony’s black box past the 3DS in the Land of the Rising Sun.
