Social networking and handheld devices (in this case, a gaming device) go hand-in-hand. Sony today announced some good news for social-networking-addicts with dedicated applications for Facebook, foursquare, Skype, and Twitter on the PlayStation Vita.
The free downloadable applications will be available through the PlayStation Store and activated by simply clicking the icon on Vita’s home screen. PS Vita users can use Skype to make free calls to others on Skype, and users may also follow celebrities on Twitter, at least, that’s part of the hype used in today’s press release about the apps.
But, for the gaming fiends, the Party and Near apps are quite exciting. Party allows users to cross-game chat, among other things, while Near gives users the ability to check out other Vita owners’ profiles.
