The digital delights of Sony’s scrumptious PlayStation Network service know no bounds. Aside from letting punters compete in online gaming, stream films, browse the Internet and more, its premier attraction rests in the copious supply of downloadable games ripe for the picking. From PSN exclusives to PSOne Classics, minis and plain old add-on content, Sony’s online space is chock full of goodies battling it out for your hard-earned digital dollars.
Welcome back to another installment of Inside PlayStation Network, where every Monday – Friday we’ll pluck a PSN release—be it new or old—and put it in the spotlight for a thorough dissection. Fancy getting a new PSN game but don’t know what one to plump for? Perhaps this feature will help. Didn’t realize that a game was available in your region until now? We’ve got you covered. Or, perhaps you were musing over what those lucky Japanese folk were tucking into over in the Land of the Rising Sun? You can be sure our coverage will extend to those rare regional exclusives as much as those firmly embedded on the public consciousness.
Today, we strap on our Proton Packs and get stuck into Ghost Busters: Sanctum of Slime.

The Ghost Busters film franchise may still be on a seemingly indefinite hiatus, but that hasn’t stopped game companies from cashing in on this beloved brand on numerous occasions all the same. This latest effort, subtitled Sanctum of Slime, plonks gamers in control of a band of rookie ghostbusters tasked with hoovering up heaps of phantoms spread across 12 stages. At its core, it’s essentially a rudimentary dual-stick, top-down blaster, albeit with ghosts.
Spooks come in three distinct flavours, so you’ll need to use the appropriately- coloured Proton Pack to stand a chance of dispatching them. You’ll venture from room-to-room, sucking up phantoms all over the shop either with your AI-controlled comrades or with a couple of buddies in tow. If you aren’t playing co-op (which is supported for both online and offline play), the computer does a fairly bang up job of reviving fallen teammates should they fall foul to the many ghouls that inhabit the game’s environments.
Multiplayer is obviously the main focus of Sanctum of Slime though, and with three extra slots up for grabs alongside yourself, you’ll likely gravitate towards co-op play rather than solo-based shenanigans. The game also offers standard leaderboards in case you feel like squeezing every last ounce of juice out of the dozen stages up for grabs. Elsewhere, there’s also several boss battles to contend with, as well as a couple of on-the-rails vehicle segments where you hoover up ghouls from the back of the Ecto-4WD. So, if you’ve got nothing better to do with your time and fancy something fresh from PSN, who you gonna call?
Join us again tomorrow as we take another butcher’s Inside PlayStation Network.
