U.S., Japanese PSOne games heading to EU PS Store

Sony has confirmed via the EU PS Blog that North American and Japanese PSOne titles will be making their way to the European PlayStation Store in the near future.

Details on specific titles weren’t divulged, though the post does say that ‘a few’ are already being prepped for launch in the territory.

The post also goes into detail as to what exactly this initiative will mean for punters, as seen below.

Publishers who own the rights to release PSone titles that were previously only available in the US and/or Japan will now be able to apply to have them released on the SCEE PlayStation Stores (providing they are rated by the appropriate ratings boards for each territory).

All titles will be published ‘as is’, with either English or Japanese language game content where available.

All titles will run at 60 Hz and you will need a 60 Hz capable display to play them properly

Furthermore, if a PAL version of a specific game has been unable to pass the QA in Europe, but the NTSC release is readily available on either the US or Japanese PS Store, then Sony will be able to look at publishing that version instead.

Sony is encouraging users to inform them via the PS Blog comments section as to what games they’d like to see released, so be sure to pop on over there and let your voice be heard.
