Goodbye, Bats: Kevin Conroy won’t return as Batman in Arkham Origins

Batman will not be voiced by series regular Kevin Conroy in the forthcoming Arkham Origins.

Instead, the Caped Crusader will be voiced by a younger actor to accommodate the shift in timeline – after all, Origins takes place prior to both Arkham City and Arkham Asylum.

That’s at least according to NAG, a South African gaming rag that claims Warner Bros. is on the hunt for a new voice actor to portray the iconic superhero.

Conroy of course is no stranger to the Batman franchise, having provided the voice of the legendary Dark Knight since the early nineties for nearly all non-live action purposes.

This includes stints in Batman: The Animated Series, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, both Arkham titles and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

So, just who will be stepping into Batman’s well-worn boots for Origins? As soon as we hear, we’ll be sure to let you know. Sadly however, Conroy isn’t the only one not returning; Joker voice actor Mark “Luke Skywalker” Hamill has confirmed he won’t be appearing, either.

Batman: Arkham Origins is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U and Xbox 360 in October.
