PS4 HDMI video/audio capture not possible, Share button might not allow for YouTube uploads

PlayStation 4’s much-publicised ‘Share’ button may have hit a stumbling block as far as YouTube goes, with InsideGamingDaily (via TSA) claiming users won’t be able to use it to upload gameplay to the social website.

Sony is reportedly stopping gamers from uploading their experiences to YouTube, instead giving users other options including PlayStation Network, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch.

Interestingly, the report fails to mention that videos should be saved to your hard drive too, where users can then edit on a PC and upload them to YouTube from there.

Elsewhere, the site’s source also claims that PS4 won’t allow for audio/video capture from HDMI. Whereas the PlayStation 3 allowed users to circumvent this issue by utilizing the system’s component slot, PS4 lacks this particular solution.

Instead, HDCP strippers will be required, though the site notes that this is highly illegal.

Sony hasn’t issued a formal statement on the matter, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
