PS3 software update 4.50 hitting today

Sony has announced, care of PlayStation Blog, that the PlayStation 3 is set to receive a new update, and the company has also featured what’s coming with it.

The previous update 4.46, which released late June, fixed a prior issue with version 4.45 that bricked user PS3s. Now, four months later and a month away from the PlayStation 4 release, Sony releases more automation and ease-of-access to its current home console.

Take a look at what’s coming today in update 4.50.

-Auto download of system software updates has been expanded to support all PSN users.
-Auto download support of purchases made on the Sony Entertainment Network online store will be made available to all PSN users.
-New options for trophy privacy settings allow users to set which trophies are visible.
-Data can now be transferred from PS3 to PS Vita using Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection.

Have these features been ones you’ve been waiting on for a while? Trophy hunters have waited for the ability to hide some trophy lists, especially if the most die hard of hunters have endured the easy but painful Hannah Montana platinum.

For those who are new to the PlayStation Plus scene, you can set up automatic updating, which will also update console software as well as sync trophies, download demos, and update game software, by going on the XMB under > [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Automatic Update].
