PlayStation Now prices for The Last of Us, Uncharted 3 appear on Gaikai website

Potential price points for the PlayStation Now releases of The Last of Us, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and Far Cry 3 have appeared today on Gaikai’s official website.

According to the site’s UI teaser, Far Cry 3 will set you back $5.99, Uncharted 3 $4.99 (both of these are rentals to stream), while The Last of Us – being the most recent release, with the option to purchase fully – will drain your wallet of $49.99.

It’s worth pointing out that these could very well be placeholder prices, so don’t assume the amounts are set in stone just yet.

Meanwhile, Gaikai’s ‘About’ section turns up the following info:

At Gaikai, we believe in solving difficult problems to create exceptional experiences. People said it was impossible to stream video games at high quality with low latency. We did it anyway. They said there was no way for a small company to build the world’s fastest interactive entertainment network. So we did that too. We even won a Guinness World Record for it.

“It isn’t easy. It requires custom hardware. Dozens of software systems. And a world-class team to put it all together. But you know what? It’s worth it. Because, when you find yourself playing a PlayStation game within seconds of pressing a button, without downloading or installing anything, on a device that was never designed to do that, it’s nothing short of magical.”

While PlayStation Now is rolling out this summer in North America, it is unlikely to see the light of day in European territories until 2015.
