2015 is over for another year, and what a show it’s been. As we pack our bags and head back home, we’re left with a tough decision: which games deserve our coveted awards this year?
Winner: Final Fantasy VII Remake
E3 2015 was packed with some of the most hotly anticipated games in history, including the Holy Trinity that was unveiled at the Sony PlayStation press conference and it’s one of those three that earns our most anticipated award: Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The original Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved role-playing games of all time, but time has not been generous to its polygonal PlayStation 1 graphics. Ever since Square Enix presented a much prettier recreation of VII’s opening sequence running on the PlayStation 3, fans the world over have been clamoring for a full recreation of the game with modern visuals and sound.
But the years went by and the hope just died. Then last November, Square announced a port of the PC version of FF VII for the PS4 at PlayStation Experience and seemingly killed chances for a proper upgrade.
But dreams do come true and the Final Fantasy VII Remake is proof of that.
With a better presentation utilizing PS4’s tech and the possibility of new, possibly surprising, deviations from the original story, we cannot help but be excited for our reunion with Cloud and the gang.
Honorable mention: Fallout 4
