Naughty Dog is working on a sequel to the critically acclaimed The Last of Us, according to Uncharted voice actor, Nolan North.
North, who voices Nathan Drake in the popular action-adventure series, seemingly confirmed The Last of Us 2’s existence during a chat at Metrocon on Sunday (via GearNuke).
Speaking about Naughty Dog’s future projects, North commented, ““For now, the last one. I know they’re doing The Last of Us 2, but my character in The Last of Us had an untimely demise.”
The Last of Us 2 has been rumored for a while now, although last we heard, Naughty Dog had put plans for a follow-up on ice to concentrate on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Prior to that, the sequel was outed on a LinkedIn profile of a former employee at the California-based studio.
In addition, Troy Baker, the voice actor behind The Last of Us’ gruff hero, Joel, has previously expressed interest in working on a sequel. Despite this, he later confirmed that The Last of Us 2 was not on the cards.
Released in 2013 on PS3, The Last of Us garnered glowing reviews from critics and went on to sell over seven million copies. The game was later ported to PS4 in the shape of The Last of Us: Remastered.
Uncharted 4, meanwhile, is due out in spring 2016.
