Focus Features has released the official debut trailer for the upcoming Ratchet & Clank CG movie, due out in cinemas in April 2016.
Check it out below.
Based on Insomniac Games’ critically acclaimed PlayStation platform series, Ratchet & Clank is being directed by Jericca Cleland and Kevin Munroe, and features an original story penned by T.J. Fixman. The film is an origins story of sorts, retelling the events of the first Ratchet & Clank game and showcasing how the titular heroes met each other in their attempt to prevent the destruction of the Solana Galaxy at the hands of Chairman Drek.
Ratchet & Clank features a number of returning voice actors from the video games, including James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet and David Kaye as his robot companion. The movie will also feature Hollywood action hero, Sylvester Stallone, in the role of Victor Von Ion and Armin Shimerman as Doctor Nefarious. In addition to the movie, Ratchet & Clank will also be receiving a new franchise entry on PlayStation 4 at some point in Q1/Q2 2016. Much like the film, the game will be a remaining of the original Ratchet & Clank, though will incorporate many gameplay elements from other titles in the series. Insomniac has confirmed the game will run at 1080p/30fps.
Ratchet & Clank was remastered for PS3 a few years back and later made its way to PS Vita. The most recent entry in the series came in the shape of 2013’s Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, though there have also been a number of mobile-exclusive spinoffs launched too. Crank also got his time in the spotlight away from his part as one half of the dynamic duo in the PSP title, Secret Agent Clank, back in 2008.
