Destiny’s King’s Fall hard mode now available, here’s what to expect

Bungie has officially launched the hard difficulty for Destiny: The Taken King’s ‘King’s Fall’ raid, presenting Guardians with the ultimate challenge for its critically polarizing shared-world shooter. As expected, hard mode is no walk in the park, and you’ll need to be Light Level 310 or higher to stand a chance of conquering the raid. In many ways, this is a difficult enough task in itself, as you’ll need to acquire high-level loot and weapons to boost your Light Level to the recommended level. Unsurprisingly, not many players have managed to achieve yet.

As is stands, it is likely a few fireteams tackling the raid will have some members who have yet to reach 310, although that hasn’t stopped people in the past from attempting to conquer Destiny’s more difficult challenges—Crota’s End is another good example. In addition to providing an extra difficulty, the new raid challenge also raises the game’s Light Level to 320; don’t expect to reach that level without participating in the raid, as it was tough enough getting to 300 without doing the regular difficulty level.

What changes can you expect with hard mode then? We’ve compiled a list below to prepare you:

-No checkpoint platform in the Hive Tombship jumping section, forcing you to complete it in one go

-Darkness zone revives are disabled.

-The first loot chest has a chance of dropping 310+ gear

-The Warpriest will increase in strength over time.

-The Golgoroth encounter has a debuff known as ‘Unstable Light,’ which makes your character explode. Nearby teammate will also be damaged if nearby.

-The Daughters’ time will start immediately for the second run, while platforms may be further away.

-Oryx will spawn extra Knights to protect bombs, while the platforms are now harder to reach.

Bungie recently offered a fairly major update for Destiny specifically targeting those pesky Shotgun kills, and also introduced the Eververse Trading Company, allowing gamers to purchase new Emotes with their hard-earned cash. Despite this, the former Halo developer assured fans that it won’t be offering anything else for real-life money.
