The development team behind Final Fantasy XV has confirmed that the much-anticipated JRPG has hit another milestone, with the game now entering its beta phase. In other words, Square Enix is now focusing on mass optimisation and debugging, with the basics now done and dusted.
In addition, the Japanese software giant confirmed that we can expect more news on Final Fantasy XV to drop in March 2016, during which the company will be hosting a major game event for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title. Square Enix also said that the reason why things have been so quiet on the game lately is due to the fact Game Director Hajime Tabata requested time to focus on the pre-beta version of FFXV, which the team has now completed.

Final Fantasy XV is scheduled for release some time in 2016 on PS4 and Xbox One. The game has endured an arduous development cycle, having originally been announced way back in May 2006 as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII as part of the Nova Crystallis series. After many years of sporadic updates however, Square Enix later re-revealed the game as Final Fantasy XV during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference alongside Kingdom Hearts 3, where it was confirmed the game would instead be heading to current-generation systems.
Gamers got a taste of the hotly anticipated JRPG earlier this year, when a demo of the game, titled Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, was released with day-one editions of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PS4 and Xbox One. The demo received an update a few months later fixing a number of issues present in its original incarnation. Square Enix later admitted that development on the game started around three years ago, when FF Versus XIII was around 25 percent complete.
