New Mass Effect Andromeda details have leaked online via an anonymous tipster posting on NeoGAF.
According to the leak—which by the way you should take with a pinch of salt until we hear otherwise—Mass Effect Andromeda casts players in the boots of a Pathfinder; an N7 agent tasked with finding the human race a suitable new home. Other races across the galaxy are also on the lookout for hospitable planets as well as you.
This time around the main antagonists are a cross between The Collectors and the Vorcha, although you will also bump into a human adversary too. This mysterious individual is kitted out in the same uniform as you minus the N7 logo, and his motivations are shrouded in mystery. Apparently, the player can opt to kill or spare him at some point in the game.
BioWare’s latest game will retain many familiar elements of the original Mass Effect trilogy, the weapons being one of them. In terms of squadmates, players will have two companions on their travels; a Krogan and a petite blonde human female. Everyone is equipped with jetpacks, which will be an instrumental tool in exploring uncharted planets. You can also customise your character in terms of armor, gauntlets, helmets, while improvements have also been made to the game’s character models and facial animations.
Combat has been given a massive overhaul, with destructible cover now implemented. Meanwhile, the omni-tool now features different, context-sensitive functions, such as deploying a shield in the heat of battle. You ship has also been redesigned and features a new layout. In addition to your squad having its own meeting room, you can now look out over a balcony to view the lower levels of the ship, the Pathfinder quarters, and of course the Mako.
Finally, the galaxy map has also been spruced up somewhat. Navigation now takes place primarily from a first-person viewpoint in the ship. Strike missions can be conducted from within the ship, although you must manually fly into locations. Rapid travel is performed via the FTL drive.
Mass Effect Andromeda is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in holiday 2016. Check out the latest teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated sci-fi RPG and have a look at some brilliant art work while you’re at it.
