The chief game designer for DiRT Rally has confirmed that Codemasters is targeting a resolution and frame rate of 1080p/60fps, respectively, for the upcoming off-road racer on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Speaking during an interview with VideoGamer.com, Paul Coleman revealed that the version for Sony’s console is already very close to achieving that goal.
"We’re very, very close on PS4 [to 1080p/60fps]", said Coleman. "We’ve still got a little bit more work to do on Xbox One. But, you know, I think that’s fair to say that for everyone out there, PS4 is certainly a little bit easier to get this stuff running smoothly. That’s not to say that we’re not going to try and get as close as we can with it [on Xbox One]."
He added that he is “absolutely confident” that the team will meet its target for the PS4 version, although the Xbox One release may a little more fine-tuning. That said, this does not mean the game won’t look just as good on Microsoft’s console compared to the PS4 release.
"It doesn’t look like we’ve stripped it back or anything," said Coleman. "It looks much the same as the PS4 version. I think it’s just that it’s been easier for us to get PS4 working at the performance we’ve been hoping for."
DiRT Rally is scheduled for release on PS4 and Xbox One on April 15. The game was previously released as a digital download for PC in December 2015, and will feature 17 cars, 36 tracks, plus asynchronous multiplayer for its console debut this spring.
