Ubisoft has debuted the official trailer for the upcoming movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed for your viewing pleasure.
The film stars X-Men staple Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, a modern-day ancestor of a 15th century Assassin named Aguilar operating during the Spanish Inquisition. Like the video games, Lynch is exposed to the Animus to relive his ancestor’s genetic memories.
Check it out below. Assassin’s Creed is due to hit cinemas in December 2016.
Assassin’s Creed launched back in 2007 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360, and spawned a franchise that has gone on to sell over 73 million copies as of April 2014.
Up until recently, the series has released a new entry on an annual basis, although Ubisoft announced earlier this year that the franchise will be skipping 2016 entirely as it re-examines the brand.
