Hello Games’ hotly anticipated No Man’s Sky is now available to pre-load for those who have the game pre-ordered via the PlayStation Store.
The download for pre-loading the upcoming space exploration clocks in at 3GB, with the full game itself weighing in at 7GB—considerably less than your average PS4 title.
If you’ve already pre-ordered the game for PlayStation 4 then it should have already started downloading (or may have already done so). Failing that, simply head to your PS4 library and you can get things moving from there.
No Man’s Sky release date set for this week after more than three years of waiting
No Man’s Sky is scheduled for release in the U.S. on August 9 and in Europe and the U.K. on August 10. The game has been in development for over three years now, and at one point was nearly scrapped after Hello Games’ U.K. offices were flooded over the Christmas holidays a few years back.
Those of you playing the game on day-one should probably take a look at our earlier story detailing the first No Man’s Sky update, which features a wealth of content updates and various fixes.
No Man’s Sky is set in a sprawling, procedurally generated open-world featuring a staggering 18 quintillion planets to visit. Players will find themselves exploring uncharted worlds, discovering new lifeforms and plant life while trading with other travellers and getting into epic space brawls.
Naturally, given the unprecedented size of the game world, Hello Games has said that around 99% percent of No Man’s Sky’s planet will never be visited by players. Well, technically I suppose you can visit them all; but you had better book five billion years off work, as that’s how long it’s going to take.
No Man’s Sky features a variety of online elements, as you’ll need to be connected to the Internet to upload data to the Atlus, but it’s a single-player game at heart and as such does not require a PlayStation Plus membership.
