UPDATE: Vice has corroborated the PS4 Neo reveal event news from "multiple sources familiar with the planned rollout for the new machine."
According to French website Gameblog (via GamesRadar), Sony is planning on unveiling the PlayStation 4 Neo during an event in New York City on September 7.
The timing of the supposed reveal is curious as it’s just a few weeks before the Tokyo Game Show, where the Neo has been hotly tipped to show its face.
Of course, nothing official has been confirmed by Sony as of yet, so take this report with a pinch of salt until we hear otherwise.

Sony confirmed the existence of the PS4 Neo during an interview with The Financial Times prior to E3 following months of rumors. However, it didn’t reveal any launch plans for the upgraded hardware at the time, though did say the Neo wasn’t powering any of its E3 demos.
Speaking during the FT interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) CEO Andrew House revealed that the PS4 Neo is not being positioned to replace the existing model, though it will offer the anticipated visual upgrade that gamers can expect from a 4K-ready machine.
PS4 Neo Release Date
Rumors dating back to earlier this year suggested the PS4 Neo won’t be released until March 2017, while others indicate a fall 2016 release. More recently, Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Morgan, thinks the Neo won’t show up until spring next year.
While Sony has remained coy on its mid-cycle refresh plans, Microsoft used its E3 presentation to announce two future additions to the Xbox family: Xbox One S and the Xbox Scorpion, the latter of which has been confirmed to launch in holiday 2017.
