As predicted, the latest firmware for PlayStation 4, PS4 software update 4.0 will be available to download tomorrow, Tuesday September 13, 2016, ushering in the arrival of HDR support and numerous new features.
The latest firmware update includes:
- Refreshed UI
- Better folder organization
- Quick Menu updates
- Share Menu updates
- Ability to view a hidden Trophy
Sony has also revealed more new additions, including the ability to play, pause, shuffle and skip, repeat and save songs in the Music Section.
The content info screen has also had an overhaul. Check out the bar down the left-hand side. There’s now options such as Trending, which shows the most popular media on PS4.
You can also:
- Look at recommended playlists for the game you’re playing
- View your saved Spotify playlists and songs
The much-anticipated PS4 HDR update arrives, allowing for:
- 1080p streaming for Remote Play on PC/Mac and compatible Xperia devices
- 1080p streaming for Share Play
- 1080p 30/60fps live broadcasting on YouTube
- 1080p 30fps live broadcasting on Twitch
Other updates include the ability to transfer date from one PS4 to another over a wired LAN connection.
