Bandai Namco Games has released the first Tekken 7 gameplay footage running on PlayStation 4.
Courtesy of IGN, the gameplay showcases two matches; one between Bob and newcomer Claudio, and the other between Master Raven and old-timer Paul Phoenix. Needless to say, the PS4 version is looking just as solid as its arcade counterpart, which has been available in Japan since March 2015.
Tekken 7 PS4 gameplay looks lush
Tekken 7 is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in early 2017. The game’s storyline focuses on the long-running Mishima family feud between Heihachi and Kazuya, which series creator Katsuhiro Harada has said will finally come to its conclusion in this latest installment.
The fighting sequel also introduces a number of new gameplay mechanics to help keep things fresh, including the Rage Art system, allowing you to perform powerful techniques once your lifebar is flashing red. Furthermore, Tekken 7’s cast has been trimmed somewhat in comparison to the past few games, with older combatants like Ganryu, Armor King, Bruce, and Wang making way for newcomers such as Shaheen and Gigas.
Tekken 7 will take advantage of Sony’s PlayStation VR technology, although the development team has yet to go into detail on how the game will work in this respect.
