Final Fantasy 15 sales on day one broke even with cost of development


Director Hajime Tabata revealed, when asked by DualShockers, that Final Fantasy XV sales on the first day managed to break even with the cost of developing the blockbuster Japanese role-playing game.

Previously, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XV day one physical shipments and digital sales is over 5 million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in the franchise ever. As of January 9, that number has exceeded 6 million.

Final Fantasy XV updates and DLC on the way

Tabata-san and his team are committed to supporting Final Fantasy XV for another year or so, with updates and additional DLC. The next update patch releasing on February 21 will add 60fps in 1080p on PS4 Pro, as well as raising the level cap and photo saving limit. Booster Pack DLC, free and paid versions, will be available on the 21st too.


Another update on March 28 will amend the much-loathed Chapter 13 by adding additional powers for Noctis and new cutscenes.The Gladio paid DLC episode will also release on that same day. The Prompto DLC episode is set for June. Other possible features for future updates include a monster encyclopedia and off-road driving for the Regalia.
