Blizzard Entertainment has released Overwatch update 2.06 for PS4 after yesterday’s launch of Season 4 of the perennially popular shooter.
Overwatch update 2.05 added a significant amount of changes to Overwatch as well as introducing a brand new mode in the shape of Game Browser. However, it was noted by players overnight that the update featured a few bugs on PS4, and as such this latest patch was quickly rolled out out to remedy the issues.
One of the major issues came with Capture the Rooster mode, which update 2.06 addresses. “Hey folks, shortly after the Server Browser patch went live yesterday, we discovered a critical bug which resulted in players becoming invisible in the Capture the Rooster arcade game mode,” commented Blizzard’s Bill Warnecke.
“As a temporary measure we disabled this option in the arcade and started working on a fix for the bug. Due to the specific nature of this bug we were able to do a very fast patch fix which should be live now. Within the hour we’ll enable the Capture the Rooster card again.”
Warnecke also commented the 16GB file size that PS4 players may have noticed, confirming that players needn’t panic.
“For people seeing the 16G~ patch size, I believe this is due to how patching works on the PlayStation 4. While your system is obtaining the patch information and determining how to apply it you’ll see a large size. After some amount of time the patch size should adjust to around 150M.”
Finally, Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan touched base on the Custom Games feature for PS4 owners: “We will add the ability for you to name your Custom Game on PS4. There is just some additional work we need to do in order to be compliant with Playstation’s user generated content naming policy.
“We’re sorry that you cannot name games like the other platforms can right now but you will be able to do so in the near future.”
