Bungie has teased what appears to be a new Destiny 2 weapon class ahead of its gameplay livestream event this week.

The former Halo developer took to Twitter to tease the impending Destiny 2 gameplay reveal, which featured a new image of a male Warlock class, weapon in hand. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the firearm in question appears to be a sub-machine gun, which would mean the sequel is implementing a brand new weapon class into the mix.

Check it out below.

Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on September 8, 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. The game takes place following the events of the Rise of Iron expansion from the original Destiny, and sees the Tower brought to its knees following a devastating attack by a Cabal unit known as The Red Legion. As such, all of your gear will not be transferable to the sequel. Rumors have indicated that Bungie will be dropping the Light Level system for Destiny 2, although much of the game remains under wraps.

The original Destiny was released back in September 2014 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Despite a shaky start, the shared-world shooter quickly built up a loyal fan base in the months that followed, with Bungie fleshing out the experience with four major expansions: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron. Despite the upcoming launch of Destiny 2 however, the studio has said it has no plans to cut support for the first game.
