New Destiny 2 rumor reveals frame rate details and hints at new PS4 console

Bungie may be gearing up for the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal later today, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill over on NeoGAF from spinning a few tantalizing tidbits on the hotly anticipated shared-world shooter.

Chiefly, user ‘ThatsmyTrunks’ has been informed by folk close to the upcoming first-person shooter that Destiny 2 will run at a silky-smooth 60fps, and will also reportedly feature Cross-Save between the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game. PS4-exclusive content was also name-checked, which probably isn’t a surprise given the original Destiny had timed-exclusive goodies.

However, the most intriguing morsel to come out of the leak is that Destiny 2 will be not only optimised for the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, but also ‘the next PS4.’ Quite what this means is anyone’s guess, although it would appear that Sony is planning on launching a third iteration of its flagship home console before a potential PS5 release

Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on September 8, 2017. Bungie has pledged a ‘continuous calendar of events’ for the sequel, so we won’t be subject to the horrible content droughts that plagued its predecessor. It’s also rumored that Destiny 2 will eschew the traditional Light Level system in favor of something new, and it also appears we might get a new weapon subclass.

Stay tuned for more Destiny 2 news as we get it.
