Ubisoft has revealed an Assassin’s Creed Origins combat Q&A video, where game director Ashraf Ismail delves into how much scrapping has changed with this latest instalment in the multi-million selling action-adventure series.

One of the biggest changes is the implementation of an RPG-style upgrade system, where weapons now boast various attributes and levels, allowing you to tweak them to add new effects such as poison damage or setting enemies on fire.

Fights are also more challenging, with Ismail saying players will need to back off and manage battles accordingly when faced with multiple opponents. Charging in and trying to take on large groups will just lead to you getting overwhelmed.

Assassin’s Creed Origins release date

Assassin’s Creed Origins is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 27, 2017. The game is set in ancient egyptian times, with players controlling a Medjay known as Bayek, as he explores the origins of the series’ titular stab-happy organisation.

One of the biggest changes to Assassin’s Creed Origins in comparison to its predecessors is the introduction an authentic open-world ripe with RPG mechanics, while the tombs from ACII make a comeback in the shape of raiding ancient pyramids.

There’s even a giant snake mixed up in the whole affair, although Ubisoft has said there is a reason its inclusion without delving into the realms of high fantasy.

While Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood introduced multiplayer to the series, which was expanded upon in future iterations, Origins eschews any form of online play in favor of a single-player experience.
