Bungie has confirmed that there will be no Destiny 2 Halloween event this year, but hasn’t ruled something for 2018.
The news comes via comments from community boss David Dague on Twitter, who was asked by fans if the Festival of the Lost would be returning for this year.
“We may see it again someday but Season 1 has been about launch and ritual activation. The first event for Destiny 2 is The Dawning,” he explained.
Festival of the Lost was available in the original Destiny during the Halloween period. The event gave the game’s main social space, the Tower, a spooky makeover and also awarded players special masks to wear and other themed customisation items.
In addition, the Crucible, Destiny’s multiplayer mode, received a Halloween overhaul with matches playing out in the dark.
Destiny 2 still has plenty of content on the horizon to keep players busy, however. Earlier this week, Bungie detailed that Year One of the alien shooter will be supported by multiple seasons, the first of which being the aforementioned ‘The Dawning.’
This offers a winter-themed makeover for the Tower, new Dawning-themed armor, and wintery customisation items. The Farm, meanwhile, gives you the chance to take part in ice hockey and lob snowballs at each other.
December will see the launch of the first batch of Destiny 2 DLC, known as Curse of Osiris. Bungie is already looking for suggestions on the expansion, so be sure to fire away on Twitter for any ideas you may have.
Interestingly, Bungie has admitted that it is starting to ‘look beyond’ the Destiny franchise to its next project.
