Call of Duty WW2 will require you to download a 9GB day one patch in order to play the disc-based version of the game.
Players who obtained an early version of the Sledgehammer Games-developed first-person shooter discovered as much after they were unable to access any content upon installing the title.
However, the patch has now been made available to download, meaning early adopters can take the single-player campaign, Zombies mode, and War mode for a spin.
As previously reported, the War mode is also available to play with bots replacing human-controlled opponents. With only a limited number of early copies in the wild, this is likely all early players will have to keep themselves occupied until release day.
Previous Call of Duty games did not employ this method of blocking off content prior to an official release. However, it’s definitely done its job in terms of preventing too many leaks from flooding the web.
Call of Duty WW2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One tomorrow, November 3.
Yesterday details emerged on the game’s controversial loot box system, which sees crates dropping from the skies to the beaches of Normandy.
Sony announced on Monday that the first Call of Duty WW2 DLC, The Resistance, will launch on PS4 in early 2018.
Call of Duty WW2 is the first mainline entry in the long-running series to take place in the Second World War in nine years. The game’s campaign focuses on the exploits of the U.S. 1st Infantry Division as they battle throughout Nazi-occupied Europe.
