Metro developer 4A Games has confirmed that it has ‘unannounced’ projects within the series’ universe in the works.
The news comes following a press release from the Kiev-based studio detailing plans to grow its “triple-A development capabilities” with the opening of a new studio in Malta.
While not explicitly detailing the new Metro titles, it did state that it has “unannounced titles within the Metro universe as well as further, unannounced projects” in the pipeline.
The firm’s Kiev office will remain operational, though a number of staff including Andrew Prokhorov, Co-Founder and Creative Director of 4A Games, and Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovsto, will make the transition to the new Malta office.
"By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage. Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond,” commented Dean Sharpe, CEO and Head of Business Development, 4A Games.
"This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games. We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure."
Metro: Last Light is the most recent entry in the franchise to see release, and 4A Games plans on re-packaging the game with its predecessor for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this year.
