Topless Mario causes a stir
You’ve likely seen the viral images by now of the shirtless Mario from the popular Nintendo series?
If not, check him out above as the internet seems to have got quite excited by a glimpse of the famous plumber in his swimming trunks, probably because he’s usually covered up in his blue dungarees.

Nintendo’s Super Mario is certainly not the first or the last video game character to take his top off and be body confident, PlayStation characters have been doing it for years.
In light of this current topless video game character fad, let’s take a look at some of our favorite shirtless game characters.
Kratos – God of War
Since 2005, the hulking great frame of Kratos, with nipples on display, has appeared in the God of War games without a proper top on. Because you simply cannot hope to annihilate the Gods of Olympus in a rage-fuelled revenge mission without flaunting your rock hard pecs and smearing them in the ashes of your dead family. Well, we all deal with grief in our own way.
Dante – Devil May Cry
When the sexy Son of Sparda is not making folk (furious) swoon with his (existence) dashing good looks, he’s flaunting his perfectly chiseled six pack. Dante from Devil May Cry had no problem whipping his top off in the game’s opening sequence. He’s a bad, bad boy, and not just bad because he doesn’t have white hair and wasn’t made in Japan.
Zangief – Street Fighter
Street Fighter’s Russian grappler Zangief wears next to nothing apart from a pair of tight-fitting pants in the ring, displaying his manly hairy chest for all to see. If the nipples on display aren’t your bag, you still have to admire the landscaping skills of this Ravishing Russian’s chest hair. You can crush us anytime Z, cos we’re totally crushing on you.
Chris Redfield – Resident Evil
As well as enjoying an illustrious side-line in video game porn videos (so we’ve heard), Capcom launched a Chris Redfield costume that stripped him from the waist upwards and revealed he’s a keen Mad Max cosplayer to boot. What a hunk! Rock hard pectorals are a must for the man who can literally punch rocks into dust. The kinky leather however, is entirely mandatory, but if you got it, flaunt it! Jill might be the master of unlocking, but Chris’ man-nipples get our hearts a-rocking.
Thane – Mass Effect
The Bioware team is no stranger to sexing up its Mass Effect series with a few saucy scenes, and Thane certainly isn’t the only character to bare his body. Looks like he’s got something pointy down his pants too (it’s…it’s a codpiece, right?). Who cares about the fate of the known universe when those inky come to bed nips and washboard abs are demanding you report to this emerald citadel immediately.
So, as these images certainly go to prove, there’s much more to ogle at aside from a shirtless Mario if video game characters baring their nipples are your thing.
