Activision Reveals Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 Has Not Been Approved For Release In Kuwait

Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has not been granted a release in Kuwait, and as a result all preorders for the game in the region have been cancelled and refunded.

The publisher provided a statement to Eurogamer, which reads as follows:

At this time, the title will not be available for release in the region. As a result, all pre-orders in Kuwait will be cancelled and refunded to the original point of purchase. We remain hopeful that local authorities will reconsider, and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this all-new experience in the Black Ops series.

While no reason as to why the game won’t be out in Kuwait was provided, the Gulf War setting is likely to blame. Kuwait was invaded in August 1990 by Iraq, then governed by Saddam Hussein, which managed to occupy the country in just two days. This kicked off the first of two phases against Iraq by coalition forces, known as Operation Desert Shield.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is due out on October 25, 2024 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Treyarch revealed details on the game’s multiplayer maps and modes overnight, which you can read about here.
