Akiba’s Beat, successor to Akiba’s Trip, announced for PS4 & PS Vita, watch first trailer now

Japanese developer Acquire has announced a new action RPG titled Akiba’s Beat for the PlayStation 4 and Vita for launch in fall release in Japan and no confirmed Western release yet.

The new project is about seventy-five percent complete and is a successor to Acquire’s fanservice-filled Akiba’s Trip games, the second of which was released in the West as Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed for the PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and PC (you can read our review here).

Akiba’s Beat is being directed by Kohta Takano and character designs are by UCMM. Both previously worked on the smartphone game Divine Gate, which received an anime adaptation earlier this year. The theme song titled "again" is performed by J-pop duo ClariS, best known for the theme songs to the anime Madoka Magica and Oreimo.

The game is of course set in a recreated version of Akihabara, Tokyo’s anime, gaming, and electronics district, where a 19-year-old NEET and college drop-out Asahi Tachibana and his friends get stuck in a delusion-filled world where Sunday repeats. Together they will fight these delusions in dungeons thanks to special headphones that grant unique combat abilities.
