Akira Yamaoka Remade All Tracks For Silent Hill 2 Remake, And Included Some New Ones To Boot

Legendary composer Akira Yamaoka has revealed that he remade all 25 tracks from the original Silent Hill 2 for its upcoming remake, and included some new compositions for the Bloober Team-developed title.

Remade all the original tracks and added new ones. After 25 years, my approach to music has evolved. This work reflects that change, blending past passion with today’s sound, challenging me like never before.

Yamaoka-san has worked on nearly all the major Silent Hill games in the franchise, with Silent Hill 2 his personal favourite among all his compositions. In addition to the video games, he also worked on the movies Silent Hill and Silent Hill Revelation, and is involved in the upcoming Return to Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is set for release on October 8, 2024 for the PS5 and PC. As with the original 2001 version of the psychological horror title, the remake follows James Sunderland as he travels to the eponymous town after receiving a letter from his deceased wife, Mary.

Last week, Bloober Team revealed that Silent Hill 2 Remake will take players around 16-18 hours to complete for a first playthrough, even more if they decide to fully explore and unlock everything the game has to offer.
