American McGee has requested that fans stop asking him about Alice 3 following news that Electronic Arts has decided not to finance a new entry in the series.
Speaking on his Patreon, McGee explained that the Alice IP is still owned by EA and they are not willing to invest in the series at present.
I’d really love it if people could stop asking me questions about Alice in general. EA owns Alice and they control it. If you want to do something with the IP, you are free to do that – just like you are with all other IPs – but you get into trouble when you start trying to sell the stuff you create. Additional questions on this stuff should be directed at EA. I really want some space from Alice and questions related to it.
The original American McGee’s Alice was released in 2000 and is based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, albeit with a dark and gothic flavour. the sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, was released in 2011, and sadly any hopes of seeing a sequel have now been dashed.
