BioWare has announced that a number of features planned for Anthem Act 1, many of which went live yesterday as part of patch 1.10, have been delayed while the team work on fixing a number of the game’s most pressing bugs and stability issues.
Consequently, the following will now release at an as yet unspecified date in the (hopefully) not too distant future:
- Cataclysm (an important addition that, when available, will offer new challenges and rewards, whilst also furthering the game’s overarching story)
- Guilds
- Leaderboards
- Legendary Missions – Phase II
- Mastery System
- Some Freeplay Events
- Weekly Stronghold Challenge
“We want to make sure everything we add to the game has a purpose and fits with our long-term goals”, BioWare explained in the corresponding post over on Reddit. “When we have information to share on the items above, we will do so”.
Anthem Act 1 – Keeping Fans in the Loop
As well as the above, BioWare reiterated its commitment to improving Anthem’s end game loot and progression system.
Exact details as to what these improvements will entail have yet to be provided. However, according to the developer, this is for a very good reason.
A lesson we have learned is we have been talking about things too early. There are so many factors that can cause us to pivot on our plans – whether it’s bugs & stability issues, player feedback, or complications with a feature that require us to take more time to deliver it. Our goal is to tell you about new content and features once the work is closer to being done.
At the same time, we want to provide more ways to get your feedback and for you to tell us what you think is fun (or not fun). To facilitate this we plan to introduce a Player Feedback Environment (PFE), an opportunity to get your feedback before we go live with major features (in the short term for PC only).
