The pre-launch Anthem demo will release on the 1st February 2019, EA has confirmed during PAX West.
For those keeping score, that’s exactly three weeks before the full game releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Or two, if you’re a member of either Origin or EA Access.
Accessing the Anthem Demo
Frustratingly, at this stage, the demo is only available to those who have pre-ordered the game or have an active Origin or EA Access membership come the 1st February.
Pre-orders are already being taken on the PlayStation Store and will set you back upwards of 59.99. While EA and Origin Access membership will cost you 19.99 per year (that’s a little under 4 quid a month).
BioWare has said there will be other ways to play the demo before the release of Anthem. However, the Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer hasn’t said what these are at the time of writing.
What to Expect from the Anthem Demo
It’s hard to say what, precisely, will be featured in the demo when it does arrive early next year.
Neither BioWare nor EA have provided any concrete details on simple things like file size or matchmaking let alone in-game content. Although we’d hope they would choose to display a decent sized chunk of the game’s impressive world.
Regardless, we can’t say this dearth of information is overly surprising. We are a good 5-months out from launch date, after all.
Rest assured, we will update this article as soon as that changes.
