According to the chaps at Siliconera, the upcoming PlayStation 3 instalment in the Ape Escape series has been in development since 2006.
Apparently, the game may be share some connections to the Japanese-only PS2, title Piposaru 2001, a spin-off game that had players vacuuming up filthy Monkey underpants in an effort to clean them. The original game plan was to make a sequel to this bizarre title, though since then the developers have turned their attention to Ape Escape PS3, which will apparently also feature PlayStation Move functionality.
Fingers crossed we hear more at E3.
