Ubisoft is reportedly working on a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed, according to known insider xj0nathan. The news follows the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of 2013’s of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Speaking in response to comments from Tom Henderson that another Assassin’s Creed remake is in the works, the leaker revealed that he heard back in 2023 that “AC1” is getting the remake treatment. The Insider Gaming Podcast only mentioned that it was one of the “earlier” games the would be remade next.
Assassin’s Creed was released back in 2007 and takes place during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land around the year 1191, with players controlling Altair Ibn-La’Ahad by reliving his genetic memories using the Animus as Desmond Miles. Altair is stripped of his Master Assassin status after killing an innocent during the retrieval of a Templar artefact, and must kill nine targets to regain his honour in an adventure that takes him to locations such as Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, Damascus.
Many of the classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay mechanics were established in Assassin’s Creed, such as parkour, stealth, instant Assassination kills, and gathering intel on your target.
