Assassin’s Creed Origins loot chests revealed
Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins will implement its own loot-based system known as Haku Chests, it has been confirmed.
These items will contain a random weapon or shield for players when the chest is opened automatically on purchase. According to recent previous of the game, Haku Chests are only obtainable via in-game currency.
Loot chests are nothing new when it comes to triple-A videogames as of late. One of the most controversial examples comes with Middle-earth Shadow of War, which prompted developer Monolith to defend their inclusion in the game.
Assassin’s Creed Origins release date
Assassin’s Creed Origins is due for release on October 27, 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game looks a the formation of the titular organisation, taking place in ancient Egypt for the first time in the franchise.
Players control a Medjay named Bayek, who is responsible for maintaining law and order within his local community. Origins eschews many of the traditional staples of the series however, such as the busy mini-map and synchronisation towers.
Instead, Bayek has his trusty eagle companion to scout the landscape, alerting players to activities and missions within the game world.
Of course, that’s not to say some key elements have been abandoned. Stealth still plays a key role in Origins, as demonstrated in this latest gameplay video.
One of the biggest new features is the Discovery Mode, which allows players to freely explore the open world while soaking up some key knowledge of ancient egypt.
Pleasingly, Ubisoft has seen fit to reintroduce the classic tomb raiding sections from ACII. In Origins, they are manifested in the shape of gigantic pyramids and crypts to explore, which reward rare loot.
