Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Has World Events In Place Of Regular Side Quests

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla narrative director Darby McDevitt has revealed that the game will almost completely eschew traditional side quests in favour of a new feature called World Events.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Side Quests Are Virtually Gone

Speaking to GameSpot ahead of Ubisoft Forward, McDevitt revealed that World Events have been included in Valhalla, which has resulted in traditional side quests being made “almost nonexistent.” Players will have longer story arcs to complete as part of the main narrative, but extra activities are going to be more spontaneous than before and not something you necessarily have to hunt down.

McDevitt explained that this decision was made to better fit the game’s narrative, with protagonist Eivor having arrived in England as an invader as opposed to be a native resident. Therefore, quest givers wouldn’t really have much of a place when you’re still trying to forge alliances.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is scheduled for release on November 17 for PS4, PC and Xbox One, and will arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch. Check out an extended gameplay trailer here.
