According to a report on PCGamer, Baldur’s Gate II remake is in development at Wizards of The Coast with Kevin Martens, the co-lead designer of the original version of the game, returning for the project.
In addition, the site claims that the original Baldur’s Gate is “likely” getting the remake treatment, and “a source familiar with the project” has stated that Martens has already starting working on the remake of Baldur’s Gate II.
Developed by BioWare and released for the PC in 2000, Baldur’s Gate II takes place in the Forgotten Realms and is based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition rules. The main campaign takes around 50 hours to finish, although if you throw in all the side quests available, you can expect to put as much as 300 hours into the game.
Baldur’s Gate II opens shortly after the events of its predecessor and is set primarily in and around the city of Athkatla, and continues the story of Gorion’s Ward, who has caught the attention of a sinister mage known as Jon Irenicus.
Baldur’s Gate II Enhanced Edition was released for PC in November 2013, Android, iPhone, and Linux in December 2014, and PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in October 2019. This version of the game was handled by Overhaul Games, and includes remastered version of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the expansion Throne of Bhaal.
