Larian Studios has taken steps to ensure that Baldur’s Gate III players don’t go on a rampage and kill just about every NPC out there by providing backups of key characters, and even backups of their backups.
This info comes courtesy of YouTuber Proxy Gate Tactician, who uncovered some interesting developments during Act 1, specifically regarding the tieflings at the grove. Usually, if players kill the goblin leader, the tieflings leader, Zevlor, will invite you to a celebratory party. However, if he’s killed before that, you will still get the invite via another character called Asharak.
There’s more though. If Asharak is killed, then Cerys — who would normally not appear until much later in the story — will appear to take the other characters’ place. Furthermore, she can’t be killed as she doesn’t appear at the grove beforehand. Beyond that though, it’s possible to kill all the guests at the tiefling party, which results in them being replaced by a whole new bunch of characters you wouldn’t otherwise meet.
