Battlefield 5 teased by DICE, due in ‘just a few years’

The New York Times reports that the successor to DICE’s Battlefield 4 will hit stores in just a few years.

The publication revealed that it recently sat down for a chinwag with Patrick Bach, the Executive Producer for Battlefield 4, who revealed that the next chapter in the military FPS will pack “More features. More extras. More destruction.”

Bach went on to add that, “Every new game needs to be the next big thing.”

Battlefield 4 is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in the U.S. on October 29, and in Europe on November 1. Next-generation versions of the shooter will follow later that month.

The game will be followed by extensive post-launch support, which will be rolled out over the next 12 months.

Looking at past release schedules from Electronic Arts, we can presumably expect Battlefield 4 to drop in 2015. Battlefield 3 was released in 2011, and the sequel hits stores this year — so, that’s a Battlefield game every two years providing nothing changes.
