Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Black Desert will be fully backwards compatible on PS5, with all of your save data carrying over from PS4, providing you are on the same PSN account.
In a post on Twitter, Pearl Abyss confirmed the transition after there was some concern about the game not being backwards compatible. You can see the full post below:
Black Desert finally released on PS4 last year after years of being available on both PC and Xbox One. We reviewed the game back then and stated “Black Desert does a lot right but a lot of it is hard to experience with little to no tutorial and technical issues that never really let up. It’s clear that the current generation of console just isn’t quite up to handling a game of this magnitude, but even so Black Desert provides an epic and frequently beautiful MMORPG experience.” You can read our review here.
Black Desert will be playable on PS5 with backwards compatibility when the console launches on November 12, 2020, in the US and November 19, 2020, in the UK and EU.
