Black Panther Developers React To Game’s Cancellation: ‘It Breaks My Heart The World Won’t See It’

Members of Black Panther developer Cliffhanger Games have taken to social media to voice their disappointment over the game’s cancellation.

Speaking on BlueSky, Karla Ortiz, a concept artist who worked on the Marvel superhero title, credited the “incredible crew” that was “working on such an amazing and stunning game.” Ortiz went on to describe Black Panther as “detailed, rich, beautiful” before adding “it breaks my heart the world won’t see it. It also breaks my heart to say goodbye to the team. What an honor to work with you all. What a sad day.”

Freddie Lee, who worked as senior environment architect, also chimed in on the subject:

Welp this happened today. It has to be said that during my short time there, I’ve had the honor and pleasure to work with people like Karla whose art inspired myself and the team, and also instilling confidence and growth into my professional artwork. This team was, and is GOAT.

As previously reported earlier today, the Black Panther game was set to feature T’Challa’s son fighting against the Skrull, and would have allowed players to control numerous characters throughout the single-player adventure. Dynamic storytelling was also set to heavily feature in Black Panther.
