Bloober Team is working on a new survival horror IP that will be published by Private Division, having already confirmed that the studio is working on a full remake of Silent Hill 2 for PS5.
The unnamed game is currently in the early stages of development and will not see the light of day before calendar year 2025, and its reveal comes as Private Division celebrates its fifth anniversary.
Here’s what Bloober Team boss Piotr Babieno had to say on the game’s announcement:
Our next project is an exciting new survival horror game, which will help us become a leader in the horror industry at large. I am grateful for this cooperation with Private Division. Their expertise is extensive, and their people are also very approachable. We don’t perceive them in a typical ‘publisher-developer’ relationship; they’re more like a friend who shows us support or keeps us in line when we need it most.
Meanwhile, Private Division has launched a development fund initiative with the aim of helping indie studios self-publish their games with project financing and mentorship opportunities.
Private Division’s head of business development, Blake Rochkind, commented:
Since we announced Private Division five years ago, we’ve seen a number of promising game ideas from smaller teams that didn’t quite fit with our full-fledged publishing model. We knew we could not simply have a one-size-fits-all approach in today’s world. We never like to say ‘no’ to an incredible game concept due to the size of the project, and the Private Division Development Fund enables us to identify and support some of the best creative ideas our industry has to offer.
Again, the new project is early in production, so we won’t hear much about it for a while yet. In the meantime, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 PS5 remake has yet to attract a release date but is believed to be in the late stages of development.
