Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the brand-new Metroidvania title brought forth by former Castlevania head honcho Koji Igarashi, has smashed through the $4,000,000 milestone on Kickstarter, comfortably eclipsing its relatively modest starting goal of $500,000.
The breakthrough means that on top of the game being greenlit, fans can expect to see local co-op, a nightmare difficulty setting, a boss rush mode, a speed run mode, cheat codes, voice acting from gaming favorite David Hayter, a classic mode, an asynchronous online multiplayer option, orchestrated tracks, an online challenge mode, and at least two playable characters. There are of course more stretch goals, and with just under 50 hours left till the campaign slams shut, more pledges could see the addition of another playable character and prequel mini-games, with also the elusive $5,000,000 stretch goal still shrouded in mystery.
With the funding all in place, the tentative release date window sits at around March 2017, giving Igarashi-san ample time to make sure the game can be mentioned in the same breath as his brainchild Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
