Borderlands 2 not getting second Season Pass

With the upcoming release of the Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 and other additional content on the way for Borderlands 2, many Season Pass holders want to know if they can expect these new goodies for free. When speaking with Polygon, Gearbox reiterated yet again “that the season has ended” for the Borderlands 2 Season Pass.

Gearbox claims that it has “been clear from the beginning” that the Season Pass would only include four campaign DLCs and that there is currently no plans for a second pass for the acclaimed FPS/RPG. The developer goes on to explain why they chose a Season Pass format for releasing DLC and how it was able to benefit the player:

"In April we celebrated the success of Borderlands 2 by thanking our most passionate fans, the Season Pass holders, by including the first Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack in the Season Pass," Gearbox said.

"We were excited to give Season Pass holders $45 of value instead of the original promise of $40. Through the course of our grand experiment, we’ve also learned that fans are happy with an a la cart menu for DLC because they can pick and choose the content that they most want to buy and really customize their Borderlands 2 experience."

In response to fan demand, Gearbox plans on creating more DLC after Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 is released. You can expect to see some new character head and skin packs as a result. Gearbox is happy with how fans responded to the Season Pass and their want of more content by stating that, "They’re voting with their wallets — and we are grateful that there are enough of them asking that we can justify the cost of developing the content."
