Borderlands 3 confirmed, will launch ”specifically on next-gen consoles”

No sooner than a week after teasing its potential reveal, Borderlands 3’s existence has been all but formally confirmed by publisher Take-Two Interactive during its Q3 financial report.

Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford had previously pointed towards a reveal sooner rather than later when he took fan questions at a Q&A session at PAX South. It’s no secret that the third iteration is in its infancy, but it looks as though a formal announcement is imminent at this stage.

Now, adding fuel to the ever-growing fire, during an earnings call over at Take-Two Interactive, President Karl Slatoff confirmed that, as many had hoped, the new game in the successful series will be developed  ”specifically for next-gen consoles." – of course meaning that there’ll be no PlayStation 3 version, but rather the game will instead harness the power presented by this generation of consoles exclusively.

Unfortunately, no other details were shared, so we’ll have to make do with the March release of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection in the meantime.
