Borderlands 3 Cross-Play Update Has Been Prepared, But PS4/PS5 Support Was Pulled At Request Of ‘The Publisher’

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has revealed that the studio has prepared a Borderland 3 Cross-Play update, but was asked to remove support for PS4 and PS5 formats at the request of the publisher. Whether that’s 2K or Sony remains unknown at this point.

Good news or bad news first? Good News: An update for Borderlands 3 has been prepared for release that includes full crossplay support across all platforms. Bad News: For certification, we have been required by the publisher to remove crossplay support for PlayStation consoles.

Right now it’s obviously not looking good for PlayStation gamers, although we’ll have to wait and see what happens. However, it’s very disappointing to see, especially as we had assume Sony was ready to embrace Cross-Play at this point after Microsoft and Nintendo lead the charge a few years ago.
