Shacknews reports that Gearbox Software’s Borderlands is on schedule for release in October 2009.
The post-apocalyptic shooter was originally pencilled in for release last year, though was ultimately delayed for reasons unknown. Comparisons have been observed between Borderlands and Bethesda’s Fallout 3, though the game differs considerably in terms of visuals, with the Gearbox shooter featuring an almost cel-shaded aesthetic.
Early reports state that the game will feature four playable characters, each of who possesses a unique backstory along with various special abilities. A four player cooperative mode has been confirmed, in addition to the standard single player campaign and obligatory multiplayer modes.
Borderlands will be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
